Good! Cargo stagnation, terminal congestion, multi-country port fee reduction policy is coming!
01.FREE DEMURRAGE
Refers to the free container time, that is, the period from when the yard picks up the goods to the time when the counter is returned, and the demurrage fee will be charged if it exceeds, this period depends on the regulations of different shipping companies.
After the heavy cabinet arrives at the destination port, it can generally be stored at the dock for free for a few days, and the boxes can also be used for free for a few days. The free storage period and container exemption period for different ports in different countries are different, generally 7 days. You can also apply for an extension of the container exemption period at the port of departure, depending on the specific shipping company / route.
If the exemption period is reached, the cargo owner can discuss with the freight forwarder and apply to the shipping company, which can extend the exemption period of about 3-4 days. If the company has a large volume and has a contract with the shipping company, you can apply for a 14-20 day free box period.
02.FREE STORAGE
Refers to the time when the pier is allowed to store for free, and the demurrage fee will be charged if it exceeds it. The stack-free period for container stacks at the terminal depends on the regulations of the terminal.
Note: The free period and the free period are two different concepts.
03.DETENTION
Also known as the box fee, it refers to the cost incurred when the box-free period is exceeded, that is, the use of the shipping company's boxes exceeds the free box time. The shipping company will charge you a demurrage fee, which is generally calculated on a daily basis. The period is 7 days, depending on the shipping company's regulations.
04.DEMURRAGE
Also known as the storage fee, that is, the overdue storage (occupation / use of the terminal) fee incurred when the free storage (use) time specified by the terminal is exceeded without the removal (empty) of the container is collected by the port. Containers can be stacked for free on the terminal for a certain period of time. Generally, it is 7 days, and some ports are about 3 days, depending on the port regulations.
05.Define the way
Export:
Box-free period: Start from towing empty boxes, and return to the scene when the heavy boxes return to the dock.
No-stack period: starting from the return of heavy containers to the dock or terminal, and ending at the estimated sailing date.
import:
Box-free period: The period starts when the cabinet is put out of the dock and ends when the cabinet is returned to the dock.
Stack-free period: from the day of unloading to the end of the container until the container leaves the terminal.
06.Calculation date
Charge for demurrage = start time-(cut-off time 1 day)> demurrage period
Charge for demurrage = start time-(cutoff time 1 day)> detention period
07.Charging model
Settled in local currency, overdue will be charged per container per day. The longer the overdue, the higher the daily cost. For example, Maersk ’s small box is free for the first 7 days, 55 yuan per day (RMB, the same below) for 8-15 days, 150 yuan per day for 16-20 days, and 300 yuan per day after 21 days.
